Missionaries cancelled meeting in World Trade Center

False

Not long after terrorists attacked the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, a story began to spread on the Internet about how missionaries were saved on that day. One story (with several different versions) described how there had been a missionary conference planned to be held in the World Trade Center on the morning of the attacks. The story usually states that it was a combined zone conference with three or more zones scheduled to attend. Miraculously, all missionaries failed to make it to the World Trade Center on time due to a variety of circumstances – alarm clocks failed, missed rides or bus connections, promptings to do other things, etc.

Once again, this is a great story but is not true. The mission president of the New York, New York North Mission (which includes Manhattan) at the time, Noel G. Stoker has verified that there was no conference planned on that date, and even if there had been, it would not have been held in the World Trade Center.
