Missionaries suppose to be on planes on 9/11

September 11, 2001 gave birth to hundreds of rumors, among those rumors included one about LDS missionaries scheduled on flights that were crashed by terrorists on that day, but not being on the planes. Sometimes the reason they missed the flight is because something kept them from boarding (lost ticket, being late, traffic) and sometimes they are inspired not to be on the plane.
There is no documented source to back up any of these stories. September 11 was not a day that missionaries were either entering or leaving the missions located in that area. There were a few missionaries on planes on September 11 heading to international missions and those planes were forced to land as all planes that day were. A handful of missionaries were then stuck in airports, but that is the only thing that happened to missionaries on the fateful day.
